Best tapas in Sitges outside the route event
The Tapa a Tapa 2026 route has ended, but Sitges' best restaurants are still open. Find out where to eat tapas in Sitges year-round.
The Tapa a Tapa 2026 route closed on April 26th. Forty restaurants, forty unique tapas, ten intense days of gastronomic exploration through the streets of Sitges. And now the natural question: where do you eat tapas in Sitges for the rest of the year?
Sitges has tapas year-round
Sitges is not just a spring event. This Catalan coastal town near Barcelona has an active tapas scene throughout the year, with venues that have made the tapa a house philosophy, not just a seasonal strategy. The sheer density of restaurants — over 200 in a town of 30,000 residents — means that no matter the day or hour, there's a great tapa waiting somewhere.
The restaurants participating in the Tapa a Tapa route are not newcomers to this. They are established venues that use the spring event to showcase a special proposal, but whose regular menu is already of high quality. After the event, many maintain adapted versions of their route tapa on their regular menu.
The old quarter area
The triangle between Plaça Cap de la Vila, the Municipal Market and Carrer Major concentrates the highest density of tapas bars in Sitges. This is the heart of Sitges tapas culture: terraces that fill up at lunchtime, active bars until late and a healthy competition that pushes every venue to perform at its best.
Here you'll find everything from the crispiest fried squid rolls to the creamiest croquettes in the region. The classics never disappoint: patatas bravas with homemade alioli, marinated anchovies, Galician-style octopus with smoked paprika. And the modern proposals also deliver: tuna tartare with avocado, local prawn nigiri, deconstructed Spanish omelette.
The seafront strip
The Sitges seafront changes character with the seasons. In summer, the chiringuitos serve rice dishes and fideuàs that rival anything you'll find inland. In spring and autumn, when the terrace can be enjoyed without the summer crowds, they are the ideal spot for a long vermouth with artisan preserves or freshly made garlic prawns.
Restaurants in the port area have an extra advantage: the Vilanova i la Geltrú fish market is ten minutes by car. The fish that doesn't sell at the morning market ends up, hours later, on the grill at the best coastal restaurants in Sitges. Pair lunch with an afternoon on one of the 17 beaches of Sitges — most are within walking distance.
When to visit
If you can choose, the best time to eat tapas in Sitges outside the event is September and October: summer is over, prices are more reasonable, terraces are still operating in the residual warmth of the Mediterranean and venues have recovered their relaxed rhythm after the high season.
Spring — between the April Tapa a Tapa route and the start of summer in June — is also an excellent time: Sitges is lively but not saturated, and many restaurants refresh their menus with seasonal produce.
The practical tip
Use the interactive map to find the Tapa a Tapa 2026 restaurants you liked most during the event. Almost all of them have their own page with updated address, phone and opening hours. The official route ends in April, but tapas in Sitges have no closing date.
