Kayaking in Sitges: Complete Guide to Coves & Routes
Sea kayak tours in Sitges from €25: guided cove routes with Nootka Kayak or self-guided rentals. Your complete guide to kayaking on the Costa Dorada.
Sitges hides some of the best coves on the Catalan coast, and kayaking is the best way to discover them. Just 37 km from Barcelona, you can paddle along the cliffs of the Garraf Natural Park, explore secluded spots unreachable by land, and enjoy the Mediterranean from the water.
Why Kayak in Sitges
The Sitges coastline combines urban beaches with pristine coves protected by the Garraf Natural Park. By kayak you can reach spots like Las Dos Calas and La Punta de Sitges that are impossible to access on foot. The Mediterranean is calm, warm and crystal-clear between May and October, making Sitges one of the best sea kayaking destinations in Catalonia. Local operator Nootka Kayak & SUP runs from Aiguadolç beach with top-quality equipment and certified guides — they are the go-to for all water activities in the area.
Kayak Routes: What to Expect
Sitges Coves Excursion — The most popular route. Lasts 2 hours and costs €40 per person (double kayak, life jacket and paddle included). The guide covers basic technique on shore before departing. Paddle from Aiguadolç southward, hugging the Garraf cliffs to reach crystal-clear coves between Sitges and Vilanova i la Geltrú. Maximum 2 people per kayak. Minimum age: 4 years (minors with adult).
Self-guided Rental — Nootka also rents open kayaks on the beach. Prices: 1 hour €25, 2 hours €45, 3-4 hours €55, full day (5-8h) €80. Perfect if you have experience and want to explore at your own pace. The stretch between Sitges and Cala Ginesta is particularly scenic.
Sunrise Excursions — A special option for early risers: kayak sessions at dawn when the sea is perfectly calm and coves are empty. Check availability directly with Nootka.
Other operators in the area: Festaventura (banana boat, kayak and paddle surf near the port), Rocroi (open kayak tours from Vilanova) and Lassdive (rentals in the Garraf Natural Park).

Best Time to Kayak in Sitges
Nootka Kayak's season runs March to November. The best months are May, June, September and October: the sea is calm, water temperature is pleasant (18-24°C) and there are fewer tourists than in July and August. In peak season (June-September) book at least one day ahead.
In winter, the tramontane wind can chop up the sea and most operators close. If visiting between November and February, check availability before travelling.
