Where to stay in Sitges: neighbourhoods and hotels by budget
Practical guide to accommodation in Sitges: which area to choose (old town, seafront, Aiguadolç), budget, mid-range and luxury hotels, and when to book.
Sitges is small — the historic centre is walkable in twenty minutes. But choosing where to stay makes a real difference between waking up steps from the beach or having to walk every time you want to reach the sea. Here's everything you need to know before booking.
The three main areas
Historic centre and old town
The most sought-after area. Narrow streets, Modernista architecture, a short walk from the main beaches and the Passeig de la Ribera. Best for those who plan to explore the town on foot.
Pros: everything within reach, local feel, easy walking distance from the train station. Cons: narrow streets mean most hotels don't have their own parking. In summer there's more noise at night near bars.
Passeig de la Ribera and beachfront
For those who prioritise the sea. Hotels here have direct Mediterranean views and immediate beach access. Generally the most expensive, but the location justifies it if beach and terrace are the priority.
Pros: wake up with sea views, zero walk to the beach. Cons: higher prices, more touristy.
Aiguadolç and southern area
Quieter, near the marina and Aiguadolç beach. A good option for families or anyone who prefers to be away from the bustle of the centre.
Pros: quieter, easier parking, residential feel. Cons: 15–20 minutes' walk from the old town.
By budget
Budget (under €80/night)
In high season (July–August), finding a decent double room for under €80 in Sitges is difficult. The most affordable options tend to be guesthouses in the historic centre or short-term rental apartments.
Tip: book several months ahead for July–August. May, June and September have better availability and better prices.
Mid-range (€80–180/night)
The widest range. This bracket covers 3- and 4-star hotels both in the centre and on the beachfront. The price difference between a central hotel with no view and one with a sea terrace can be €40–60 — worth considering if views matter to you.
Luxury (over €180/night)
Sitges has an established luxury hotel offer, including restored historic properties and some resorts with spas. Hotel Terramar and Meliá Sitges are the benchmarks in this bracket, with pools, spas and direct or near-direct beach access.
By type of trip
Couples
Beachfront or old town, sea-view room if the budget allows. Mid-season weekends (May, June, September) offer far better value than August.
Families
Aiguadolç or the southern area: more space, less noise, easy access to family-friendly beaches. Look for hotels with their own pool for days when the beach is packed.
LGBTQ+ travellers
The historic centre — particularly around Carrer del Pecat and nearby streets — concentrates most of Sitges's gay-friendly hotels and guesthouses. During Carnival and Pride, rooms sell out months in advance.
Groups and events (Tapa a Tapa)
During the Tapa a Tapa route (late April, early May), central hotels fill up quickly. The upside: perfect temperature for eating on terraces and a much more local atmosphere than August.
When to book
| Period | Recommended lead time |
|---|---|
| Carnival (February) | 3–4 months ahead |
| Easter | 2–3 months ahead |
| Tapa a Tapa (April–May) | 1–2 months ahead |
| July–August | At least 2–3 months ahead |
| May, June, September | 2–4 weeks ahead |
| October–March | Last-minute often viable |
Parking if you're driving
Most central hotels don't have their own parking. Parking L'Estació (next to the train station) is the largest and best-located option. In August, it's worth confirming availability in advance.
If you're coming from Barcelona, the train is far more practical than driving — no parking stress and 40 minutes from Sants. Full details in the Barcelona to Sitges transport guide.
