Bears Week Sitges 2026: Complete Guide
Bears Week Sitges: Europe's biggest Bear event, 4-13 September 2026. 10,000+ attendees, Bear Village, Mr Bear contest and pool parties.
Bears Week Sitges is Europe's biggest Bear event. Every September, over 10,000 bears, chasers and admirers descend on Sitges for ten days of parties, beach and community in the Mediterranean's most iconic LGBTQ+ destination.
What is Bears Week Sitges
The Bear movement originated in late-1980s San Francisco as a reaction to mainstream gay stereotypes. Sitges has been hosting its European edition for decades — a celebration that combines identity, community and the town's famously relaxed coastal vibe. With 10,000+ attendees in September and around 2,500 in May, it's the largest Bear gathering outside the United States, drawing participants from over 40 countries.
Dates and programme 2026
The main event, Bears Week Sitges 2026, runs from 4 to 13 September. The Bear Village opens 7–13 September: an open-air party hub with themed nights, official after parties and the headline contest, Mr Bear Sitges, where candidates parade in front of thousands of spectators and winners go on to represent Sitges at international Bear competitions. Other highlights: pool parties, beach volleyball tournament, the Bear Market (crafts, clothing, accessories) and themed dinners.
There's also a May Edition (around 1 May, ~2,500 attendees) — more intimate, with easier access to beaches and restaurants.
