Easter in Sitges: processions, events & guide
Easter in Sitges: Procession of Silence, Caramelles singing and 18°C. Complete guide to Holy Week events, weather and accommodation.
Easter in Sitges combines centuries-old processions with the awakening of the Mediterranean spring: 18-20°C, terraces starting to fill up and the sea refreshing before summer. For those seeking Holy Week without Seville's or Málaga's crowds, Sitges offers an intimate and authentic alternative.
Why spend Easter in Sitges
Sitges celebrates Holy Week with a seriousness and devotion that surprises many visitors. Local brotherhoods have been organising the events for centuries and local participation is very high. At the same time, the coastal setting makes the holidays a perfect opportunity to stroll through the old town, visit the museums and open the season on the seafront terraces.
Traditional Easter programme in Sitges
- Palm Sunday: Blessing of Palms and Palm Branches at the Town Hall square and Sant Joan Baptista church. Free entry.
- Holy Week (Mon-Thu): processions of local brotherhoods through the historic centre, along the Passeig de la Ribera at dusk.
- Good Friday — Procession of Silence: the most solemn event of Easter in Sitges. The Floats, Brotherhoods and Mysteries march in silence in chronological order of the Passion. Arrive early to secure a good spot on the Passeig de la Ribera.
- Holy Saturday and Easter Monday — Caramelles: the groups Caramelles del Prado, Caramelles del Retiro and Caramelles Sitgetanes tour the town with their traditional songs. A very local and festive celebration.

Easter weather in Sitges
Easter falls between late March and mid-April. In Sitges, temperatures range from 16-20°C during the day and 10-12°C at night. The sea is too cold for swimming (~15°C) but perfect for beach walks. There is some chance of showers — Mediterranean spring can bring brief rain — so bring a light waterproof jacket. The spring light makes the old town and the church silhouette over the sea particularly photogenic.
